Good Morning Thunder!!!

It is with great news that we invite a Thunder Alumni to our great coaching staff.  Please give a nice welcome to Phillip Barnett.  Phillip will assist his father, Bob, with coaching the Bantam team this season.  Phillip last played for the Thunder Midget 18 team during the 2007-2008 season.   During that season Phillip led all of Norcal in points with 88 pts in 28 games.  Phillip was named Captain of that team and with great reason.  Phillip's work ethic, sportsmanship and great leadership both on and off the ice is exactly what makes him a great addition to our coaching staff.  Phillip's success as a player will surely carry over to his coaching career and will most certainly rub off on his players.  Phillip has played both at the A and AA level only to stay close to home to pursue his education.  Had Phillip chosen to pursue his hockey playing career he would most certainly been a great addition to any team he played for.  Phillip currently is attending Sierra Jr. College prior to transfering to a higher education institute in addition to working at Skatetown.

by Bob Di Miceli posted 05/03/2009

Hello Capital Thunder Families and Fans:

As we look back on last season and the success that your Capital Thunder teams had, it is only fitting that we look to continued success for the upcoming season.  Capital Thunder's excited for the season to begin and fielding 7 teams from Mites throught Midget 18.  We are looking to add to our current quality coaching staff by adding additional coaches, whom have returned to coaching at the youth level, after taking a leave of absence to pursure other adventures.  We are especially pleased to announce the return of Mike Getchel (formerly Capital Thunder Jr. A Head Coach) and Jim Vanderpost.  Jim last coached for Capital Thunder back in 2005/2006 when he was an integral part of the Capital Thunder's Midget 16 coaching staff that won both Norcal Championship and the State Championship.

Midget U16 News
by geoff brim posted 04/22/2009

I wanted to post this note to begin the 2009-2010 season.  This past season was very successful, however we were a little short on our ultimate goal of a State Championship.  This coming season we will be playing to defend our Norcal Championship and to once again play for the State Championship.  I am excited to see the new talent that will be fighting for a roster spot for the 2009-2010 Capital Thunder M16A team.  With the success of our Capital Thunder organization this past season, tryouts will be packed with players wanting to take part of our success.

Please take some time off to allow yourself much needed relaxation and then get ready to come out hard for the summer programs that Capital Thunder is offering to prepare each of you for the upcoming tryouts that will be held on July 31st.   The summer programs begin this Monday the 13th and will run for 7 weeks.  Beginning on June 7th, a much needed summer conditioning camp will begin and expose all of you to the beginning phase of the upcoming season.

2008/2009:
Los Angeles Kings Thanksgiving Extravaganza:  Runner Up.
2008/2009:
Coyote Cup: Champions
2008/2009:
Norcal Playoffs: Champions

I am looking forward to seeing you all at the rink.

I am excited to return for another year as Head Coach of our Capital Thunder M16A, to defend our title as "Norcal Champions."

Be a part of it, tryout for your spot on the roster.  Tryouts are August 1st and 2nd.
Best of luck:

Bob Di Miceli
Head Coach
Capital Thunder M16A
